Capacity Market: 2026/27 T-1 auction clears at £5/kW/yr
The 2026/27 T-1 GB Capacity Market auction cleared at £5/kW/yr. This is the lowest T-1 clearing price since the 2020/21 delivery auction.
7.2 GW of de-rated capacity was procured across 195 CMUs against a target of 6.3 GW, close to the demand curve maximum of 7.3 GW. 86.5% of the de-rated capacity that entered was awarded an agreement.
Battery energy storage secured 577 MW of de-rated capacity across 51 units. Two-hour systems dominated, while no batteries at four-hour duration or above were awarded agreements.

Oversupply pushed the T-1 capacity market auction through all 15 rounds
Of the 9.8 GW of de-rated capacity that qualified, 8.3 GW entered the auction. It ran the full 15 rounds before clearing with only ~500 MW exiting between rounds 1 and 11 (£75 to £25), less than 7% of entering capacity.
