GB BESS buildout Q2 2026: fleet reaches 7.6 GW
Battery buildout in Great Britain has averaged 439 MW a quarter over the past two years. Q2 2026 added 209 MW.
Five batteries came online, taking the fleet to 7.6 GW. That is the lowest quarterly addition since Q1 2024.
Buildout over the past two years has been uneven. A small number of large sites can make up much of any given quarter. This means the headline figure depends on whether one or two of them energise inside the window rather than the pipeline as a whole.
