Battery energy storage systems (BESS) in ERCOT are expected to earn $3.97/kW-month in August 2025, a 47% drop from last year. Revenues were still 9% higher than in July, continuing the gradual recovery since the start of 2025.
The YoY decline was driven mainly by Ancillary Services, which fell $3.6/kW-month. By contrast, more than 70% of revenues now came from Real-Time Energy Arbitrage, with total arbitrage revenues up 4% year-on-year.
Despite the steep fall from 2024, August is expected to deliver the second-highest revenues of 2025.
