ME BESS ERCOT May 2026: BESS revenues in March hold 23% below the 12-month average

ERCOT batteries earned an average of $1.88/kW-month in March 2026. That is 23% below the trailing 12-month average BESS revenue of $2.43/kW, even after rebounding from February's $1.16/kW-month. Real-Time Energy was the largest year-over-year drag at -$0.27/kW, and Ancillary Services gave up a combined $0.52/kW

April’s late-month price spikes did not return in May 2026. Real-Time prices topped out at just $219/MWh on May 26. As a result, monthly Real-Time TB1 spreads fell 60% to $40/MWh, the lowest in at least 13 months. Day-Ahead TB1 dropped 40% to $41/MWh. Calm weather met a still-growing fleet, and scarcity disappeared.
