CAISO maintains its lead in the total installed capacity of battery energy storage systems. Two GW of grid-scale batteries reached full approval for commercial operations in the first half of 2025.
This brings the total installed capacity of batteries by rated power to 12.4GW.
The newly installed capacity comes from 18 new battery projects. One-third of these batteries are larger than 200MW in size.
