Market updates3 days agoThe Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) is Western Australia’s largest electricity market, covering the entire South West Interconnected System. It spans over 260,000 square kilometres and supplies more than 1.2 million households and businesses. The WEM...
Market & Policy Updates26 Nov 2025As spinning generators retire, Germany is turning to grid-forming inverters to provide inertia and stabilise the grid. Batteries are first in line for the new inertia market, and can boost their revenues by up to €20k/MW/yr.
Battery Operations25 Nov 2025Constraints have been a problem for New South Wales in 2025. They have prevented low-priced renewable generation in the South West to reach demand centres, creating the conditions for increased volatility. And they’ve made it difficult for batteries in constrained regions to dispatch into these price spikes. Smart optimisers have been able to find ways to maximise output during price spikes, even whilst constrained. However, last week, multiple different batteries were caught out charging during price spikes - showing constraints can still cause problems.
Explainers18 Nov 2025Minimum System Load is becoming an operational challenge for AEMO as the grid shifts toward high levels of renewable generation. When the system leans too heavily on inverter-based resources, it becomes more exposed to voltage and frequency disturbances.
