Who are the Polish optimisers and how to find them

Who are the Polish optimisers and how to find them

As an asset owner, you need to choose the right optimiser for your battery to perform in the market. Poland has become one of Europe's fastest-growing storage markets: several gigawatts of batteries have cleared recent capacity market auctions, and the liberalisation of the ancillary services market has opened up new revenue streams. The choice of optimiser will shape how much of that value an asset actually captures.

At Modo Energy, we have prepared a list of market participants offering third-party representation and optimisation services for battery storage in Poland.

For more on the size and shape of the market these optimisers are working in, see our Poland battery buildout outlook.

Here is the list:

Axpo

Axpo is a European energy company with experience in trading, optimisation, and operation of flexible energy assets, including large-scale battery storage, across several European markets.

In Poland, Axpo has signed some of the market's largest battery optimisation deals to date. These include a 300 MW / 1,200 MWh system with R.Power in Dzięgielewo, described as the largest single-project deal of its kind in central and eastern Europe, plus a further 150 MW / 300 MWh system with R.Power, a 60 MW system with EDP Renewables, and Poland's first utility-scale battery, developed with Energix in Nowe Czarnowo. Axpo optimises stand-alone battery storage across the day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets, and structures agreements with minimum revenue guarantees that support asset bankability.

In Poland, Capalo AI holds an electricity trading licence from the Energy Regulatory Office (URE), which allows it to trade and optimise battery and hybrid assets across the wholesale markets. It has been live since April 2026, trading and optimising a hybrid solar-plus-battery asset for R.Power Renewables.
