Forecast energy costs for large loads

You can now forecast energy costs for large loads, such as manufacturing plants and data centers.

Model a campus's energy costs from its location, utility tariff and power prices, and configure onsite storage and generation.

Illustrative example from a sample forecast

Why it's useful

The forecast shows how prices, utility tariffs, and onsite assets combine over time. Use it to:

  • Understand what drives your costs. See how power prices and utility tariffs shape your campus energy costs over time.
  • Compare ways to power your campus. Assess how adding onsite generation or storage could change your energy costs.
  • Build your investment case. Bring projected energy costs into campus development, financing, and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate a PPA or price a supply bid. Use projected campus energy costs to evaluate a supply offer or build a competitive bid.

  2. Enter your campus name and location, then add Load.
  3. Add any onsite solar, wind or BESS you want to include.
  4. Set its nameplate capacity in MW, and turn on Curtailable if the campus can reduce its demand.
  5. In the grid connection settings, set the connection voltage and select the tariff.
  6. Click Run model, choose your world views and run the forecast.

Your results appear in Revenues under Forecasts in the left sidebar, and you can download them as a CSV.
