European solar: Spanish capture rate falls to 9% in February

Four of the six analysed European solar markets recorded lower capture rates in February 2026 than in February 2025. Great Britain and Poland were the exceptions, both edging slightly higher. The direction is consistent across most of the continent: more installed capacity, more generation competing in the same hours, and falling capture rates.

But the pace varies sharply by market. And one country sits in a category of its own: Spain's solar capture rate was 9.4% in February. It had been 72.3% twelve months earlier.
