October 2026 Italy BESS forecast update: wider southern spreads lift revenues, North holds steady
Modo Energy's October 2026 Italy update adds Low and High cases alongside the Central scenario. We have added improvement on the battery dispatch for MB and aFRR markets. The forecast now uses the same balancing method as the ME Italian vBESS benchmark.
Against the July forecast, a four-hour battery's Central case revenue in South rises 11%, averaged over 2027 to 2040. Every zone except North gains. Increases range from 8% in Calabria and Sicily to 24% in Sardinia. Northern revenues for four hour batteries are similar but with a larger balancing share.
Wholesale trading anchors revenues, balancing widens Sardinia's lead
Day-ahead trading provides 73 to 91% of net revenue depending on the zone, averaged over 2027–2040. The stack separates upward balancing receipts from downward energy purchases.
