Battery energy storage autobidders in the NEM, and how to contact them

Choosing an autobidder is one of the key commercial decisions for a battery owner. It shapes how the asset trades, how it manages warranty and operational limits, and how much visibility and control the operator has day-to-day.

At Modo Energy, we are often asked which autobidders and optimisers are active in the NEM, what they offer, and who to contact. This directory brings that information together in one place, with a short summary of each provider’s offering and the best contact method.

EnergyOne

Contact: Jeric Macalintal (jeric.macalintal@energyone.com)

Energy One’s battery optimisation offer centres on Energy Offer bidding solution, supported by its enFlow Optimisation modules. It is tailored for batteries operating in Australia’s NEM, optimising five-minute charge, discharge and FCAS decisions while accounting for battery constraints, market rules, portfolio settings, cycling budgets, network service arrangements, SCADA or BMS inputs, and other site-specific factors. The solution covers price forecasting, automated scheduling, automated bidding and configurable workflows for trading teams.

Fluence

Contact: Chris King (chris.king@fluenceenergy.com)

Fluence’s Mosaic software is the most widely adopted optimisation & bidding system in the NEM. Mosaic helps market participants define, operationalise and execute custom trading strategies for grid scale BESS, renewable, and hybrid assets. With AI-powered price forecasting, algorithmic optimisation, and a suite of advanced strategy controls, Mosaic empowers trading teams to manage risk, ensure compliance, and maximise financial returns from their clean energy assets.

Habitat Energy

Contact: Matthew Hayball (matthew.hayball@habitat.energy)

Cleantech meets advanced energy trading. Habitat helps clients achieve the full potential of energy storage. We combine the latest techniques in machine learning and artificial intelligence with deep knowledge of the market, battery storage, and renewable energy assets. With our Route to Market and Optimisation services, we transact the right quantity of power at the right time in the right marketplace.

Hachiko

Contact: Rakhesh Martyn (rakhesh@hachiko.energy)

Hachiko is an optimisation and portfolio management platform for batteries and hybrids built by operators, for operators. Founded on more than a decade of hands-on portfolio operation experience, our software is designed from the user's perspective. It is configurable and transparent, so asset owners can see exactly why every dispatch decision was made rather than trusting a black box. We specialise in optimising C&I and small utility-scale batteries, with full AEMO accreditation and live dispatch experience across multiple regions. Our platform co-optimises across energy, FCAS, and network costs to maximise the value stack. Highly scalable by design, Hachiko lets you manage your sites intelligently as part of your portfolio rather than a disparate set of single sites, keeping complete visibility and control as you scale.

GridBeyond

Contact: Chris O'Brien (chris.obrien@gridbeyond.com)

GridBeyond offers AI-powered optimisation tools and services for battery and flexible energy assets in Australia. Its NEM-facing suite includes Forecaster, Designer, Bid Optimizer and Managed Battery as a Service. Bid Optimizer evaluates energy and ancillary service market opportunities, optimising asset and portfolio participation while managing operational constraints such as state of charge, efficiency and cycling warranty limits. GridBeyond positions the platform for both front-of-meter BESS and behind-the-meter customers with large loads, storage or generation.

OptiGrid

Contact: Henry Swisher (henry@optigrid.energy)

OptiGrid was founded out of NEM research begun in 2020 on forecasting and battery trading optimisation, with a single purpose: to improve returns for batteries in the Australian NEM. Our software platform, OptiBidder, provides automated bidding and trading optimisation for battery and hybrid assets across the NEM, from sub-5 MW systems through to utility-scale scheduled assets. Alongside the software, our collaborative team works closely with asset owners and operators from commissioning onwards to refine trading strategy and maximise performance across markets and offtake contracts in line with each owner's risk appetite.

Tesla

Contact: Tushar Sathe (tsathe@tesla.com)

Autobidder is a real-time optimisation platform that turns energy storage assets from static batteries into dynamic, revenue-generating resources by providing value-based asset management and portfolio optimisation. It is the intelligence layer of the Megapack ecosystem, natively integrated with Megapack hardware and Tesla’s autonomous control suite, offering a seamless solution that manages revenue optimisation and dispatch decisions across wholesale energy and ancillary services markets.

Wartsila

Contact: Edward Diamond (edward.diamond@wartsila.com)

Wärtsilä provides battery energy storage systems alongside its GEMS Digital Energy Platform, which controls and optimises storage assets in real time. In Australia, GEMS is used on large-scale BESS projects including Eraring, Torrens Island and Bennetts Creek, supporting plant control, grid compliance, frequency response, energy management and project value optimisation. Bidcast is part of GEMS and is a bidding optimisation platform purpose-built for battery energy storage and flexible assets, delivering data-driven trading and dispatch decisions across wholesale and ancillary service markets.
