Batteries within 20 miles of one another earned the highest revenues in January
Battery revenues averaged £79k/MW/year in January.
However, the four highest-earning systems earned £132k/MW/year on average. And these four batteries are all located in Scotland - within 20 miles of one another. All four systems focused on importing Balancing Mechanism energy and selling wholesale energy.
As a result, they earned similar revenues in each market - including a loss of over £30k/MW/year in the Balancing Mechanism, offset by wholesale revenues of more than £120k/MW/year.
